NICHOLAS MITAROS - founder & CHAIRMAN
Mr Mitaros is an Australian lawyer, property developer and company director. He holds Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Laws degrees and has more than 30 years extensive experience in acting for investors in a wide variety of commercial matters including dealings with ASX listed companies and Governments. He has a thorough understanding and knowledge of international trade. Mr Mitaros is a consultant to national law firm, Clayton Utz and former Non-Executive Chairman of Colliers International, a global commercial real estate services organization, for the north of Australia. Since 1998 Mr Mitaros has held the position of Australian Resident Director of the Jerambak Group of companies, being the pastoral holding interests of the Government of Brunei Darussalam. In this role Mr Mitaros regularly travels to Brunei and hosts ministry delegations in Australia.
JOHN CANARIS - founder & Managing Director
Mr Canaris is an experienced exploration geologist and resource industry executive. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology with Honours in geomorphology from the University of South Australia, and has more than 25 years’ experience in the resource industry in Australia and overseas. His wide ranging technical expertise encompasses both minerals and hydrocarbon exploration, and all aspects of mineral & petroleum survey & mapping. In addition he has extensive Australian capital market experience, having completed a range resource transactions including gold, iron ore and geothermal. Mr Canaris has listed and operated several ASX companies and held senior management positions. In his last role Mr Canaris was the Founding MD of Torrens Energy Limited, an ASX listed geothermal explorer which he managed through its strategic planning, structuring, board participation, marketing, capital raising and technical implementation. Under his leadership the Company established itself as a premier Australian geothermal explorer establishing the World's first Code Compliant resource. Prior to that Mr Canaris co-founded Lefroy Resources Limited, an ASX listed gold explorer established to test the historic Lefroy Goldfield in NE Tasmania. Mr Canaris has also been involved in a range of resource company transactions including gold in Western Australia and iron ore in India.
MICHAEL WERNER - founder & TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Mr Werner holds a Master Degree in Geology and has more than 35 years’ experience across a range commodities including coal, oil, gas and salt. He has special expertise in industrial salt production, and cavern storage design and development globally. Since 2009 his consultancy has provided international salt expertise, planning & project execution services in Saudi Arabia, Africa, Brazil, Germany, USA, Canada and China. Mr Werner has specific experience in the fields of rock mechanics and stability modelling for cavern storage & brine mining, and project management and production leadership for operations in Germany. He is currently providing project support for Dow Chemicals in USA, Brazil and Germany.
RICHARD MONTI - DIRECTOR
Richard Monti is a geologist with a successful career of over 30 years in the international mineral resource industry resulting in broad industry knowledge and strong strategic planning capabilities. He has first-hand working knowledge of all aspects of the industry from project generation, exploration, resource, feasibility, construction, operations, finance, marketing and divestment. Mr Monti has worked in diverse countries with exposure to most commodities including base metals, nickel, iron ore, coal, industrial minerals, potash, gold. He has over 30 years of director experience on 13 ASX and TSX-listed mining and exploration companies from micro-caps through to mid-size miners, and has built and managed teams of up to 70 personnel. He worked for a number of international and Australian companies including Anaconda Nickel, RTZ Exploration, the North Group and the Normandy Group. During a 7-year term at Anaconda Nickel, he held general manager positions in technical, commercial and marketing fields. Mr Monti was principal of corporate advisory firm, Ventnor Capital, from 2005 to 2010 and is the principal of Terra Cognita Pty Ltd which supplies advice to resource industry companies. He has proven experience and understanding of equity capital markets, debt funding and has strong relationships with broking and banking houses in Australia and Canada.
Denise Goldsworthy - Director
Denise’s prior executive career included roles as Managing Director of Dampier Salt, Managing Director of HIsmelt, and Director Major Projects for Rio Tinto. She is a highly experienced non-executive director and advisor on research, technology and innovation. Denise is a proven senior executive with experience in the manufacturing, infrastructure, mining and technology sectors. Recognised as a master of constructive questioning, she utilises expertise in business engagement and system design to achieve reliable outcomes. Denise also owns and manages a small consultancy, Alternate Futures (AF) which was established specifically to work at the interface between Australia’s research organisations, tech-start-ups and industry, facilitating connections between problems and solutions, addressing translation, system and cultural issues enabling both sides to see and understand the needs of the other with the aim of establishing commercially viable partnerships that achieve impact. Denise is currently Chairman of the Board at ChemCentre WA; an NED for EFIC and Western Power; Chairman of the Board of Minerals Research Institute of WA (MRIWA); a member of Council at Edith Cowan University; a member of the Commercialisation advisory Board for Curtin University; Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Navy Clearance Diver Trust (NCDT); and a judge for the Prime Minister’s National Science awards. Among Denise’s honours is being named the 2010 Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW) and was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame in 2011.
